Lying in a hotel on lower Powell St., I told my gerontologist son (43): "Tom Brokaw, an army brat, honored his dad's generation as 'The Greatest', but both numerically & in potentio, the Baby Boomers are, & as human life is extended they'll live longer & everything will change systematically (across the linked systems of human life.) Next: Reincarnation will be accepted as normal." (think of going from checkers to Chinese checkers, chess to 3D-, 4D-, 5D-chess, etc. www.sciam.com/physics) Brokaw's semi-Greatest are currently dying-off at the rate of 10K/day & did in even greater daily numbers in WW2 when they had little or no choice. But now we definitely do: we can & will choose Living longer over Dying en masse. Why do I believe the majority of Boomers can & will refuse to be sent to their deaths for spurious political reasons? Because Ken Burns' (2007) PBS TV-series "The War: 1941-45" reveals when management of the war was stupid, ignorant & utterly incompetent. Its narration could not have been written & read aloud by & for a previous generation & wasn't -- "Victory at Sea" (1952-3) was victory propaganda & war-propaganda just don't float the Boomers' boats.
